Since the city’s first university was established in 1451, Glasgow has been hailed as a powerful seat of learning. Lord Kelvin, Adam Smith and James Watt are just some of history’s great thinkers associated with the city’s academic past. Upholding these impressive legacies, Glasgow Graduate School of Law (GGSL) is a unique partnership, creating from the academic strengths and resources of both Glasgow and Strathclyde law schools, one of the most innovative Graduate Law Schools in Scotland.

- Sharing scarce or resource-intensive facilities, particularly IT, postgraduate and library facilities. This will allow the Schools to explore split-site and distance learning opportunities.
- Merging the Diploma in Legal Practice. This specific collaboration has necessitated the creation of new, state-of-the-art teaching accommodation.
- The development of new products, e.g. in Professional Legal Practice, and in Commercial Law.
- Joint research and joint research studentsupervision Undergraduate teaching.
Although the Graduate School will have a postgraduate and research focus, the Management Board of the GGSL also provides a forum for discussing collaboration in undergraduate teaching. The Graduate School will also work closely with the legal profession in Scotland, seeking to maximise the potential for Continuing Professional Development
